Welcome to Pink Giraffe, where creativity wears its quirks with pride, and business advice comes with a side of spreadsheets and sparkle. If you’re a sewist dreaming of turning stitches into sales, but the idea of marketing makes you want to throw your overlocker out the window, you’re in exactly the right place.
This isn’t about learning to sew. It’s about selling what you sew. Smart pricing, creative marketing, and systems that work for you, without burning you out. I help you build a sewing business that fits around your life, whether that means juggling family, chronic illness or the chaos of just being a human. We’ll find a way to make it work.
What Makes Pink Giraffe Different?
Unlike advice that tries to stuff creativity into a business box, Pink Giraffe starts with your life and builds a business that fits around that. My background is in business – marketing, planning, tech and more, and I know how to apply that to your creative work without sucking the joy out of it.

- And yes, I sew too. I used to design and make hippy dippy alternative kids and adult clothes and dance costumes. I was booked out six months in advance so I know my stuff.
My superpower is helping people blend creativity and business in a way that works without pretending either of those things is easy.
This is me, Nicky. I don’t have pink hair anymore and I’m a bit older, but it’s still me. 😉
Who’s Behind the Giraffe?
That’d be me, Nicky.
Pink Giraffe is basically me in brand form: creative, quirky, practical, passionate, and deeply allergic to doing things the “normal” way. I live in a bungalow with my family, homeschool my son and run Pink Giraffe from my armchair and my garden studio (which my very talented husband is extending – mostly to contain my ever growing fabric stash).
I’ve run an event photography business, an eco-cleaning company, a live music venue, and I’ve got almost 20 years of online business experience selling everything from rainbow baby clothes and hippy dippy clothing to eco cleaning products and dance costumes. I also live with Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, use a wheelchair most of the time, and am still figuring out how to juggle business and health with grief after losing our beautiful daughter, Imogen, in 2024.
Some days are magical. Some are a mess. Both are allowed here.
Why I Do This
Because running a sewing business shouldn’t feel like trying to thread a needle in a wind tunnel.
Because business confidence and creativity can live together.
And because I want people like you to know you can build a business that works for your life, your health, your family and still leaves time for pottering in the garden, a crochet binge, or an impromptu nap.
It’s not always easy. But it’s worth it.
